The Starving Artist
New Glazing
Standard picture glass and conservation glass both come in clear and non-glare to protect your artwork.
The right custom framed artwork can and will light up any room.
The only problem is that unfortunately the effect of UV (ultraviolet rays) from our indoor or outdoor light can and will damage your artwork, photographs, documents, collectibles, and any other artwork reproduced on paper.
But I should say upfront--"No glazing will protect 100%"-,but with the use of conservation types glazing you can reach about 99% reflection of the ultraviolet rays.
The other major reason to use glazing is for physical protection by covering the artwork.
But what type of glazing are we talking about;
1) Picture framers clear glass or acrylic products
with our without UV protection.
2) Non-Reflective glazing -both glass and acrylic
3) Museum-grade glazing
We carry every type of custom picture framing glass (glazing).
You can replace it with regular picture framing glass that is used on
artwork that can be replaced or upgrade the glazing to
conservation UV glass for just a little more.
You might also think of replacing the “glass” with acrylic
which will not break or be damaged if the picture frame falls again.
Most artwork purchased from retail galleries and
over the internet are framed with “window” glass type of glazing.
The problem this type of glass offers no protection
from UV rays and is very easy to break.
The other problem is these frames do not come
with proper wall hangers, hence they are subject to falling off the wall.
